In progress: 3ds Max project

Currently I am modeling the surgical stapler that you can see in the photo below.

I started by scanning the stapler on an Epson scanner (it took two scans to get the whole thing) and then stitched the two images together in Photoshop. I then imported the image into Illustrator and drew an outline of the individual parts of the stapler, which were then imported into 3ds Max. It turns out that 3ds Max can not read files from the newer version of Illustrator, so I had to convert the file to an older “Illustrator 3” format. After that bit of trouble shooting, I began working on the piece in 3ds Max.

In this first screen shot, you can see the beginnings of what will be the body of the stapler. I will be posting screen shots as the modeling process comes along.
